RULES/FAQ

Fairly standard rules apply.
  • IC drama is good. OOC drama is bad.
  • Don't injure or kill a character without permission.
  • Update once every two weeks or risk removal.
  • We trust that everyone who applies will be an adult, but to be safe please label mature content so that those who don't wish to see can skip it.
  • Participate! You are only limited by your own imagination. This role play will rely heavily on threads and logs, with limited opportunities for personal journal entries. Be bold and scene with one another.
  • Don't take on more characters than you can handle.

That's about it. We should all know how to act by this point.

  • Team Structure
As seen in Resident Evil, the SeeDs sent to investigate Galbadia have been split into two teams: Alpha and Bravo. While all members are highly competent and have been selected for their various specialties, the Alpha team is comprised of the older and more experienced SeeDs with Bravo serving as back-up and reconnaissance. Each team has up to 6 members, of which it isn't uncommon for unoffical partnerships to be formed. That being said, SeeDs are trained and encouraged to act independently.
  • ALPHAS: 2/6
  • BRAVOS: 2/6

    Available Characters
As we're aiming for a small and intimate group, some limitations have been put on the characters available to play. All notable Resident Evil game characters can be applied for, but the Final Fantasy cast is restricted to characters from Final Fantasy VIII. However, you do not have to apply as one of the main cast members. Important NPCs such as Ellone, Fujin, Raijin and Xu are all available to play. If you have a question regarding a specific NPC, feel free to ask the mod.
  • Resident Evil characters must be altered to fit the VIII universe. Additionally, players may take liberties with Final Fantasy VIII characters to make them better fit the alternate setting.
  • While the primary focus will be on the two SeeD teams, there are limited positions open for players to pick up characters such as surviving Galbadia Garden students and Umbrella scientists.

    Character Ages
SeeD has been modified to be a more adult organization. In an effort to cut down on the number of child prodigies, we highly encourage that all characters be a minimum of 18 years old. Canonically younger characters may be aged up at player discretion.

    Changes made to the Gardens
Three Gardens still exist in the regions of Balamb, Galbadia and Trabia. Balamb was the first to be established by Cid and Edea Kramar; Trabia followed. Galbadia is technically a Garden but has very little association with the other two in this universe. It still maintains heavy ties to the Galbadian Army, with students graduating as soldiers instead of SeeDs. Balamb and Trabia still participate in student exchange programs, and all students must travel to Balamb Garden in order to take the field exam required for SeeD graduation.
  • Admission changes - Admission ages have been raised. Individuals 15-19 years of age may apply to join Garden. SeeD graduation must be achieved by age 20 or risk expulsion.
  • SeeD Changes - After graduating to SeeD, students remain associated with the Gardens and work their way up through the ranks. Ranks are alphabedical with F being the lowest. SeeDs may achieve ranks D, C, B and A, with only the most elite attaining an S rank. These are known as the White SeeDs, a special task force under direct order of Cid and Edea Kramar. Promotions are achieved via extensive written exams, exceptional service in the field or commendation from superiors. With each promotion comes a significant pay raise.

    Changes made to Umbrella
Umbrella is not a long-established pharmaceutical company. Formed by Presdient Deling roughly a decade ago, it is comprised of scientists from all over the world -- most of them from Esthar. Some of them came willingly, others did not. Much of their research, experiments and results have remained the same. A top secret organization, any threat that might expose them -- internal or otherwise -- is often swiftly disposed off.

    Infection Symptoms and Contraction
Although initial subjects contracted the virus through injection, it has since been spread organically. The T-virus can be contracted by exposure to the bodily fluids of an infected; most commonly it is passed along by biting. Once infected it only takes a matter of hours for the individual to perish, only to rise again as a monster. Symptoms include headache, fever, nausea, bloodshot eyes, itchy sensations, rapid blistering and increased hunger. There is no cure. The most efficient and humane way to deal with an infected individual is euthanasia.

    Bio-Organic Weapons (BOWs)
The most common enemy in the game are, for lack of a better term, zombies. Former human beings, they now live only for violence. While generally slow and lacking intelligence, the freshly dead can sometimes still move at running speeds. Given their lack of feeling, their strength and endurance are seemingly increased. The only way to kill one permanently is to destroy the brain. Infected animals usually appear to be inside out and have increased in size and aggression. Plants influenced by the T-Virus also grow exponentially and gain moderate intelligence. In all cases the creatures are carnivorous.

    Magic and Magic Use
Since the game takes place in a Final Fantasy universe, it wouldn't be complete without magic. That being said, no player may be a sorceress. The VIII Junctioning System will remain in place, meaning that the use of "para-magic" is a learned skill rather than an innate one. The Junction System is a device that allows the user to replicate magical powers. The system itself is capable of storing 32 different forms of Para-Magic with a stock of 100 units of each form. The system acts as a type of filter, filtering out magic (known as Drawing) from a being or entity and storing it ready to be used or junctioned by the user. This allows the user to possess near superhuman abilities such as increased speed and strength as well as being able to use magic as a weapon. Various Junction Systems are seen in wide use in the military forces, particularly in SeeD.
  • To prevent God moding, we're limiting the magic available in-game. Any player may use defensive/curative spells (Cure, protect and shell, esuna, etc) as well as status effect spells (haste, slow, regen). Offensive spells will not exceed the basic elements of fire, blizzard, tornado and thunder. Spells such as ultima and death are prohibited.
